Message Trace [Microsoft 365]

You may be requested by Perception Point Support to send a message trace as part of a troubleshooting procedure.

Follow the procedure below to generate the required message trace.

To get a message trace:

  1. In the Exchange admin center, browse to https://admin.exchange.microsoft.com/#/messagetrace

    [Mail flow > Message trace]

  2. Click on "Start a trace"

  3. In the "New message trace" pane that opens on the right, search for the specific message.

    • A search by Message ID is preferred, but you can also search by Senders or Recipients.

    • Adjust the Time range as required.

  4. In the "Message trace search results" list, click on one of the trace records that appear.

  5. In the pane that opens on the right, click on "Message events" to expand and show all details.

  6. Click "Copy report text" [at the top of the new pane]. The report details will be copied to the clipboard.

  7. In a text editor, save the clipboard details as a txt file.

  8. Send the txt file to Perception Point Support [support@perception-point.io] by email.
