About disabling the Microsoft Edge sidebar
The Microsoft Edge sidebar enables end users to bypass many of the ABS extension security features. Therefore, it is recommended that you disable the Microsoft Edge sidebar on all end user devices. Follow the procedures below to disable the Microsoft Edge sidebar on all end user devices. Note that there is one procedure for Windows devices, and another procedure for MacOS devices.
After you disable the Microsoft Edge sidebar [as described below], end users will not be able to enable the sidebar [the "Always show sidebar" toggle control will be disabled].

Disabling the Microsoft Edge sidebar [Windows devices]
Follow the procedure below to make the required changes to the registry.
To disable the Microsoft Edge sidebar on Windows devices:

Create a text file with a .reg extension, and the following content [including the empty lines]:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge]
"HubsSidebarEnabled"=dword:00000000

Deploy the above registry file to all Windows devices via a UEM.
Disabling the Microsoft Edge sidebar [MacOS devices]
To disable the Microsoft Edge sidebar on MacOS devices:

Copy the text from the dropdown below, and save it to a text file [configuration profile] called DisableHubsSidebarOnEdge.mobileconfig

Deploy the DisableHubsSidebarOnEdge.mobileconfig configuration profile via your Apple UEM to all MacOS devices.
