About the extension installation scripts
Extension installation scripts assist with installing the extension on target computers. These installation scripts force-install the extension on all supported browsers - by adding the extension to the "Force Install List". You can download extension installation scripts from the Advanced Browser Security console.
The installation scripts supported extension installations on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox - not Safari.
Note: Using installation scripts to install the extension is part of Step 1 of the extension deployment process - Installing the extension.

Additional information
-
You should use the installation scripts to install the extension only if your UEM doesn't have built-in [native] extension management capabilities. If your UEM does have extension management capabilities, then that is the preferred installation method.
-
Make sure to run the scripts with local admin rights.
-
If you are using your UEM to run a script to install another extension - in addition to the ABS browser extension - then make sure that there are no conflicts in the installation of the various extensions. To help prevent conflicts, it is recommended that you perform the installation of multiple extensions in a single script. External professional services may be required to assist with creating the required script.
-
Follow the instructions for your UEM for information on how to incorporate and run the script to install the extension.
Types of extension installation scripts
There are two versions of the installation scripts that you can download. There is a different version for each operating system on which the extension will be installed.
-
Windows: Downloads the "Windows PowerShell (.ps1)" script. Use it to install the extension in Windows environments.
-
MacOS: Downloads the "MacOS (.mobileconfig)" configuration profile. Use it to install the extension in MacOS environments.
Although the downloaded file is actually a configuration profile, it is referred to as a "script" in this documentation center.
Modifying the scripts
-
When you add an extension installation script to your UEM, delete the sections of the script for the browsers that are not required [if applicable]. For example, if you are using the installation scripts to install extensions on Google Chrome only, then delete the sections of the script that perform the installation of the extension on Microsoft Edge and Firefox.
-
The installation scripts are intended to be "reference" scripts only. Before adding one of the installation scripts to your UEM, review the script to make sure that it performs the installation requirements in your organization. Modify the downloaded script if required.
Downloading an extension installation script
You can download an extension installation script from the Advanced Browser Security console. When you download an extension installation script from the Advanced Browser Security console, make sure that you download the correct version - based on the operating system in which you'll add the extension - either Windows or MacOS.
To download an extension installation script:
-
In the Advanced Browser Security console, click Settings > Deployment options.
-
Under "Installing the extension to endpoints", open the "UEM without extension management capabilities" dropdown:
-
For Windows environments: Download the "PowerShell (.ps1)" installation script
Download file name: perception-point-extension-deployment.ps1

For MacOS environments: Download the MacOS configuration profile
Download file name: perception-point-extension-deployment.mobileconfig
-
For information about how to incorporate the downloaded installation scripts into a UEM installation procedure, see Step 1: Installing the extension via UEM solutions [Generic].
